Gate to the Nahuel Huapi National Park, Bariloche
can boast a fantastic landscape of lakes, woods and snowy
peaks. Sailing across its lake, it is possible to reach Victoria
Island, the Arrayanes (Myrtle) Woods and Puerto Blest. The
city is characterized by the special archtecture of its stone
and wood buildings. The City Hall and the Museum of the Patagonia
stand out in its Civic Center. An Atomic Center is witness
to the scientific interest in the area and a musical association
called Camerata Bariloche an outsantanding expression of its
culture. The region offers the best possibilities of trekking,
mountain bike, and mountaineering in the Catedral, Lopez,
Otto and Tronador mounts, rafting, canoeing and fishing salmons
in its bodies of water, and for ski lovers, the Cerro Catedral
Winter Center offers 32 lifts and 52 Km of slopes. Chocolate,
sweaters (Mapuche fabrics, with geomatrical patterns made
with sheep wool in traditional looms) and ceramics are the
most typical souvenirs from Bariloche. Other typical products
of the area are pates, smoked stag, trout and wild boar and
