House) and the Old Town Hall (1725), cradle of the city administration
in the colonial time that at present has its headquarters

Century), of neoclassic style, and where the Libertador General
San Martin Mausoleum is located, also stands out. Going down
Avenida de Mayo, one of the best achieved architectonic and
housing wholes of the city, one gets to the Congress Palace
(1906), of unquestionable beauty and where the Senators and
Deputies Chambers hold their sessions. The Obelisk (65 meters
high, built in 1936) is embedded in 9 de Julio Avenue, the
widest in the world and, a few blocks away, one can see the
Colon Theater (1908), considered the most important in Latin
America. The wide variety of activities, shows and entertainment,
makes thousand of people walk along this area at all times.
